Post Project Reflection:
- The relationship between combustion of fossil fuels, the greenhouse gas effect and climate change begins with the carbon emissions that the combustion of fossil fuels creates. Carbon emissions, or other types of heat-trapping gases, caused by the burning of fossil fuels, are trapping heat in the atmosphere. This excessive trapped heat causes the global temperature to rise (global warming) which means ice sheets and glaciers are more likely to melt, the sea level will rise and altered climate conditions will occur (climate change).
- The role that scientists and engineers play in a society is to provide unbiased, truthful data to the public so that our questions can be answered and we can be aware of our surroundings. The technologies that they create can be revolutionary to the way a society functions, changing systems, and finding better ways to do things.
- Climate change is related to my topic in a very substantial way. Due to the rise in global temperatures, the sea level has risen significantly because of glacial melting and thermal expansion. This means that the ocean has become a larger body of water, intruding on human habitation along the coastlines and the normal behavior of coastline weather and control.
